Scald Protection Valve
Description N/A Our HAT/FP freeze protection valves prevent water supply lines from freezing during cold weather. Continuously monitoring ambient or water supply line temperature, the valve's actuator senses when temperature falls below the factory-specified set-point and will automatically modulate open to bleed off the cold water. Once warmer water backfills and the temperature in the line rises above 40ºF (4.4ºC), the valve will modulate closed again to conserve water. N/A Scald protection valves respond to thermal variations, effectively preventing over-temperature water from being released and potentially scalding the user.
Brands N/A ThermOmegaTech®
Type N/A Freeze Protection Heat Actuated Trap N/A Scald Protection
Material N/A N/A 316 Stainless Steel
Applications N/A These valves prevent freezing of water supply lines to docked naval ships. Installed at the end of each supply line, the mechanical HAT/FP automatically opens when temperature is close to freezing and closes when the danger passes, eliminating water waste and reducing utility costs.

Thousands of our HAT/FP's are installed at Naval bases across the country, saving them tens of thousands of dollars each year on their water bill and energy usage.
N/A Installed in airplane galleys where coffee makers and faucets are inter-connected through a shared manifold, our HAT valves will sense the water temperature and automatically close to interrupt flow when it's above the valve's set-point preventing scalding to personnel and passengers.

Our scald protection valves are also available in 316 SS and can be passivated to prevent corrosion from disinfection solutions. ThermOmegaTech® valves protect personnel in hundreds of commercial aircraft including the Airbus 380, A330, and A350, Boeing B747 and B777, and the Boeing KC-46A Tanker.
Advantages N/A
  • Automatically protects emergency equipment from freeze damage and malfunctioning
  • Self-operating: requires no external power source
  • Discharges the minimum amount of water required
  • Fast-acting response to falling temperatures
  • Used as primary protection or fail-safe backup
N/A
  • Protects safety showers from over-temperature conditions, keeping personnel safe
  • Self-operating: requires no external power source
  • Discharges the minimum amount of water required to keep water temperature within safe limits
  • Fast-acting response to rising temperatures
Additional Information N/A The HAT/FP or the IC/FP thermostatic freeze protection valve can be installed at the lowest point on the station to monitor either the ambient or water temperature. Once the temperature reaches the valve’s set-point it will open to bleed off the cold water and allow warmer water to backfill to prevent the pipes from freezing.

Exposed water lines on safety shower and eyewash stations are often left unprotected from freezing and overheating conditions. This can cause an extremely high or low temperature at the point of use. Relying on personnel to manually open valves to prevent freeze damage or scalding allows for human error.
N/A Installed at the highest point on the station to monitor either the ambient or water temperature; the HAT/ SP or the IC/SP will bleed off the excessively hot water and allow cooler water to backfill to prevent an individual from being scalded.

Exposed water lines on safety shower and eyewash stations are often left unprotected from freezing and overheating conditions. This can cause an extremely high or low temperature at the point of use.
